DEMETER INPUTS LIST
There are currently around 3,100 BFDI approved inputs that can be found online here.
The process of registering inputs on this list, which is the responsibility of the manufacturer, not the distributor, may still take some time, therefore, it is natural that this list is constantly being updated.
If a manufacturer refuses to register a product on the list, we, BFDI, continue to accept the use of simple inputs as long as they are approved by your BIO certifier.
Simple inputs are those explicitly mentioned as accepted in the Demeter Standards, especially in annexes 3 to 5. They can be a combination of ingredients, if they are listed there.
An example might be: pure calcium carbonate, elemental sulfur, bacillus thurigiensis. They can be evaluated by the farmer, but require approval by the inspector during the annual inspection.
Any questions must be presented in the inspection report.
There is no approval procedure, by BFDI, for commercial inputs for agriculture.
Complex inputs that are not explicitly mentioned in the Demeter Standards need to be included in the input list.
These are inputs with unknown formulations or unapproved ingredients/additives as well as fertilizers rich in nitrogen (e.g. > 5% N).
If the manufacturer refuses to register the product in the list of inputs, then it will have to switch to a simple input that is approved or that falls into the category mentioned in the previous point.
We would like to encourage you to try your best in your farm with diversified crop rotations, increasing biodiversity, use of good biodynamic compost, intensive use of biodynamic preparations and use of plant extracts in order to become independent of commercial inputs.
